Delores "Dee" Harrell Obituary

Delores “Dee” (McKay) Harrell, 88, of Centennial, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2022, at her home in the arms of her husband. She was born June 25, 1933, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Irving Leon and Iva Verna (Athens) McKay. She is survived by sister, Jeanine Johnson, and brother, Mike McKay (Ann). She was united in marriage on June 3, 1955, to Ray “Keg” Harrell. Dee was a 1951 graduate of Wichita High School North and received her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wichita (now Wichita State) in 1955. She was the president of Alpha Tau Sigma Sorority and a member of the Mortar Board. She was employed as secretary to the Dean of History at the University. After a brief stint in Dallas Texas, they moved to the Denver area in 1960 when Ray was hired on with the Martin Company. They had three beautiful daughters. Dee worked for the Littleton Public Schools as a secretary for 20 years. After retiring she enjoyed playing golf, bowling, gardening, bible study, and book club. But most of all Dee loved all the family gatherings. Dee is survived by her loving husband of 66years, Ray; daughters Tracy Brothers (Nick), of Durango CO, Susan Trice (Hall), of Rocheport MO, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Linda Blenkush (Dan).
