Donald Bybee passed away May 12, 2021 after reaching his 80th birthday. He reached another milestone in 2019 when he celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife Starr before her passing later that same year.
Donald was a gifted mechanic. He taught auto mechanics at Emily Griffith Opportunity School and Arapahoe Community College. Anyone who met Donald knew he loved anything with an engine. That interest gave him many years of enjoyment and interesting adventures with numerous friends. His passions including building and rebuilding cars, riding snow mobiles, racing cars at Bandimere Speedway, running the Figure 8 track at Englewood Speedway, and building model airplanes and flying them at Chatfield State Park as a member of the Jefco Aeromod’lers RC Club.
Donald’s pride and joy was his 4-car garage, a mechanic’s dream, where he built a late model Cobra from start to finish and restored many classic cars. Donald crossed the finish line of this life under the care of the heroes at Willowbrook Place and the angels of Elevation Hospice.
Memorial Service to be held 10:30AM on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Drinkwine Family Mortuary; burial to follow at noon at Littleton Cemetery.
Memorial gifts can be made to Denver Dumb Friends League, The Wild Animal Sanctuary (Keenesburg), or Alzheimer’s organization of your choice.
