Donald Brown Obituary

Donald C Brown of Littleton, Colorado passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Guymon, Oklahoma, on November 6, 1935, to Paul Jackson Brown and Martha Jemima Burgess, Don was one of six children.  He spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma before enlisting in the Navy at the age of 19. During his four years of service, he was stationed in San Diego, where he met his future wife, Aline Minga.  They married in January of 1958 and built a life filled with love, faith, and family. Don and Aline love their 4 children and their spouses, their 20 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Following his military service, Don earned a Mathematics degree from Oklahoma City University in 1961.  His career as a computer programmer and manager spanned several organizations, including the Navy in Point Mugu, California; Informatics; the State of California; and ultimately Washington State Department of Transportation.  He retired from management with the state of Washington in 1999.

Don accepted Christ as his Savior on April 17, 1969 at Coloma Way Baptist Church in Roseville, California, where he also later served as a deacon.  After moving to the state of Washington, he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church with his family.  He served as a Sunday school teacher, as well as an elder and eventually head elder with Emmanuel.  Don deeply loved his Savior and Jesus came first in his life. At work he was known as Pastor Don because he always had his Bible on his desk and shared his faith with those around him.  He enjoyed attending house church with Aline while living in Littleton.

In the late 1990’s, Don discovered a passion for cycling, embarking on cross-country trips from St Louis to the Virginia coast and also from North Dakota to the Oregon coast.  Aline joined him on many rides, including the 225 mile Katy Trail in Missouri. They logged many, many miles together over the years and created wonderful memories for themselves, as well as with their family.  Even in his later years, riding his bike remained one of Don’s greatest pleasures.

Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Aline.  He leaves behind his children Sheree(Jim)  Kirchner; Craig(Nicci) Brown; Ron(Stephanie)Brown; Jeff(Katie)Brown; his sister, Becky Brown; brother in law, David Bechtol and Verda Hinkle; and sister-in-law,  Deanne Brown and Betty Brown.  Don is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Brown; his sisters, Bobbye Evatt, Janette Elmquist, and Mary Bechtol; his brother, Paul Duane Brown; and his granddaughter, Sarah Rose Kirchner.

A memorial service and reception to celebrate the life of Donald C. Brown will be held on March 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Drinkwine Family Mortuary. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Logan National Cemetery.
