Donna Elaine Meister

Donna Elaine Meister, 63, was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to the Denver area when she was in junior high school. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and educator who left a special legacy centered in Littleton, Colorado with reaches that span to several states with her surviving immediate family in Wyoming, Nebraska, Arizona, Oregon, and Nevada.

She is survived by husband, Chris, and their six children: Jena (Rogers) Graham, Karah (Rogers) Berg, Nicholas Meister, Nathan Meister, Michelle (Meister) Pursley, and Christine (Meister) Hanson. When Chris and Donna met, they each had two daughters and the four older sisters were excited to help Donna dress up, hold, and spoil her two sons when they joined the family. 

Large family gatherings continued to grow as Donna lovingly welcomed her children’s spouses to the family, and she beamed with pride as she took on the role of loving Nana to her 10 grandchildren: Patrick Blom, Kylie Hanson, Jayden Hanson, Hazel Meister, Madeline Berg, Gabby Berg, Dietrich Pursley, Piper Graham, Austin Pursley, and Jace Graham.

She was preceded in death by both her biological parents, who passed away in an accident when she was 8 years old, and her adoptive parents, Kenneth Carlson and Myra Carlson who welcomed her to their family in which she was the eldest sister to her surviving siblings: Kenneth Carlson Jr., Deborah Carlson, and Kevin Carlson. 

She spent most of her career as a PERA in Denver Public Schools spending years at Sabin World Elementary School and then many more years at Grant Ranch ECE-8. Many children around southwest Denver learned their sight words with Donna as she helped lay the foundation for them to learn to read and write.

Whether it was passing in a store or restaurant around town or Halloween trick-or-treating, her former students included excited recognition for Mrs. Meister as children of many ages recognized her outside of school. 

At the request of the family, please wear purple on Friday, January 29, 2021 in honor of Donna.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 4:00PM at Drinkwine Family Mortuary. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the small memorial will be held for family and close friends. The family and some friends intend to plan and host a larger celebration of life event when pandemic and/or weather conditions are more favorable.
