Doris Jeanette (Smith) Bowlus was born January 26, 1945, to Elmer and Eula Smith in Akron, Colorado. She passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 79 surrounded by family. She grew up in Akron and Yuma Colorado. She graduated from Akron High School in 1963. After graduating high school, Doris moved to Littleton Colorado where she worked at the IREA and met her future husband, Saleim Bowlus, when she rented an apartment in his mother’s basement. She and Saleim married in 1965. They spent 51 years together raising four children, Pamela Renee, Kathryn Ann, Laura Jeneatte and Jeffrey Saleim. She worked as a Customer Service Representative with a publishing company before retiring. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, going to the mountains, watching gameshows and The Golden Girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Saleim, sisters Eunice Jamison, Darlene Lieurance, Lois Barton and Cleta Hill; and brothers Harold Smith, Leonard Smith and Lowel Smith.
She is survived by her 4 children, Pamela (Scott) McCormick, Kathryn Bowlus, Laura (Jeff) Goerig, and Jeffrey (Hayley) Bowlus; 5 grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) McCormick, Shannon (Bryan) Sharpe, Ashley Bowlus, Aubrey Bowlus, McKayla Goerig; and 2 great-granddaughters, Alaina and Eleanor Sharpe; her brother Vern (Dola) Smith and sister Dorothy (Gary) Barber and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19th at Drinkwine Chapel from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with a graveside service to follow at Littleton Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
