DOROTHY FRANCIS MCQUILLEN CAVANAUGH
Dorothy “Dot” Francis McQuillen Cavanaugh joined her husband Jack Cavanaugh in heaven, 8 Jan., 2021. She passed peacefully after a fall that broke her hip.
Dot was born 31 Aug., 1930 in Louisville KY to Jesse and Louise Carter McQuillen. She married the love of her life, Jack Cavanaugh 12 Apr., 1947 at Ft Knox, KY. Being a military family they moved frequently. The most interesting move in their life’s adventure was to Norway. They loved the country, people and everything they experienced. It was an idyllic place to raise their 3 children Pat, Coleen and Kevin, staying in Norway for 4 years. Oh how the family cried as the ship departed the pier in Oslo, Norway to return to America. But the sadness at leaving Norway was replaced by the joy and excitement as the ship pulled into New York harbor and saw the Statue of Liberty. After several more moves and retirement from the Army they settled in MO for many years. However, their wanderlust moved them to CA and eventually settled in Littleton, CO.
Dot was strong willed, a Hot Ticket, a character and several other terms of endearment. She definitely lived life on her own terms. She loved her family and was a fierce protector of her children. She would say “It’s better for you to hurt me than hurt my children”. She loved to dance, laugh and visit with family and friends.
Dot is survived by her sons Pat and Kevin, a daughter Coleen Graham, 7 Grand Children, 17 Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters and a Brother.
Dot has her angel wings and she’s dancing and laughing with Jack sharing a Brandy Alexander.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Drinkwine Family Chapel with burial to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
