Dorothy Harvey Obituary

On Sunday, April 18, 2021 Dorothy Lee Harvey, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and our friend passed away at age 88. Dorothy was born on September 10, 1932 in Roscoe, TX to Henry and Norma (Graves) Wade. Dorothy grew up with two brothers, Charles and Donnie; they made her strong and mighty for being such a little girl. She learned to work on a farm, drive a tractor and got her driver's license at the age of 14. She learned what hard work was at an early age and how to deal with the masculine industry, which made her the strong woman we all knew and loved.

Dorothy was also known as "Snooks", a nick name her father gave her when she was about 3 years old. This came from a radio show called "Baby Snooks" they enjoyed listening together. Many longtime friends still called her this enduring name today.

In 1953, she married William M. Harvey in Lovington NM. They raised two children, a daughter, Doni, and a son, James. They enjoyed many things together throughout the 32 years of being married. She admired his drive on the achievements he pursued.

After William passed in 1985, Dorothy became the CEO of Harvey Seismic until retiring in 2020. Dorothy taught herself the ropes of the business and worked many long hours to keep the company thriving and successful.

Dorothy met a wonderful man, Jean Hassle, at a dinner party for widows. They lived in Tucson, AZ for over 20 years. They enjoyed golfing, bridge and poker, along with traveling. After Jean passed, she kept In touch with Jean's daughter Lynette and husband Bob throughout the years.

Dorothy had a passion for dinner parties and entertaining with her friends. She loved Mexican food, the spicier the better, and she loved to wash it all down with a good margarita. She also enjoyed taking adventures on cruise ships, where she enjoyed site seeing, dancing and meeting lots of interesting people. She had a kind, compassionate and loving spirit where everyone who met her loved her. She was funny and wise with a quick wit about her.  She was loved and will be missed so very much. Her favorite saying was "Don't tell me the details, just do it".

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her daughter, Doni, and son, James, and grandson, Brandon. She is survived by her nephew, Buddy Wade, great granddaughter, Charlotte, and granddaughter Marissa. She also has been survived by the Teresa Gabaldon and extended Gabaldon family and longtime friend Peggy Ledezma, and many longtime loving friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 10-12:00PM with a burial directly after at Littleton Cemetery. Her extended family would love for you to join them in a late lunch at 4G's Restaurant, 5950 S. Platte Canyon Rd. Littleton CO. beginning at 2:00pm.
