Dorothy Louise Leonard

Our dear mother, Dorothy Leonard sadly passed away on January 6, 2023. She was born on March 30,1927 to Mary and Luy Lakner and was the youngest of 12 children. She spent most of her young adult life in Pueblo, Colorado and there met the love of her life, Al Leonard. They were married on June 17,1950 and had three daughters, Diana, Joan, Charlotte.

The Leonard family moved to various areas in Colorado over the years and and after a short time in New Jersey they settled back in Littleton on Cherrywood Circle. During the 60 years of living on “the circle” they made many special, lasting friendships. Dottie loved gardening and was known to have a”green thumb.” Her neighbors often commented that her garden was the the envy of “the circle.” She loved staying active and was always organizing and reorganizing.

Dottie was a member of St. Anne’s Circle at ST. Mary Church, Littleton and a long time parishioner at All Souls Parish, Englewood where she was a food bank volunteer. She was also an active participant in her Catholic faith community at Vi in Highlands Ranch, where she resided for the past six years.

She will be sorely missed by her daughters, Diana, Joan (Mike), and Char (Ken) her 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews. Her many friends and neighbors, in addition to her Vi acquaintances will miss her cheery smile.

A Catholic Funeral Mass is planned for January 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. All Souls Church, 4950 S Logan St. Englewood.

In lieu of flowers a donation to The Alzheimer’s Association is suggested.
