Edward Joseph Eichler passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on March 8th, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to John Donald and Mary Joan (Deutz) Eichler. Ed’s journey was joyous and fulfilling, and he touched the lives of many along the way.
Ed met the love of his life, Cindy, in Duluth, Minnesota. They married in 1983 and spent 40 wonderful years together. Cindy and Ed raised three boys, Nick, Connor and Riley, in their Colorado home, and their lives were full of adventure, travel, laughter and a little bit of mischief.
Ed spent most of his career as a structural engineer at Lockheed Martin, working on a variety of launch vehicles, spacecrafts and satellites. He took on increasing supervisory and managerial roles as his career progressed, and played a key role in programs like the Defense Systems classified satellite, the Orion spacecraft and the GOES-R weather satellite.
Never one to sit still, Ed was an avid skier, golfer and concert goer. His love of classic rock was apparent in his attendance at many shows like Widespread Panic, Phish and The Rolling Stones, along with his substantial CD and record collection.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife Cindy and their sons Nick (Shannon), Connor and Riley (Tina), his mother Mary Joan Eichler, siblings Mary Eichler, Gerri (Ed) Scanlon, Jack Eichler and Mike (Kellie) Eichler, and many more loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Theresa Harmsen and father John Donald Eichler.
The family is holding a Memorial Service on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1 pm at Drinkwine Family Mortuary in Littleton, Colorado, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Ashley Ridge in Littleton, Colorado from 2:30 – 6 pm.
