Eileen Manning was born on April 19th, 1933 to the parents of Arthur and Helen Porta. She was raised in Louisville and attended Saint Louis Catholic school and Louisville High School, graduating in 1951. She was President of the Commercial Honorary Society, a cheerleader and class Valedictorian.
Her first job was working for the city attorney John Mackie who later became a State Representative. Next she worked for RKO Radio Pictures where they previewed movies and attended promotional dinners and parties when the stars came to Denver. She said it was one of her most exciting jobs. She then moved on to Dow Chemical company at Rocky Flats where she worked until she married Bill Manning and they moved to Littleton.
Eileen had two sons. Kevin was born shortly after their move to Littleton in 1955 followed by Perry in 1957. At that time she stopped working to spend time with her children until they reached school age.
She reentered the work force part time with Dittemore & Doherty law firm. In January 1965 she worked in the Juvenile Probation Department for Larry Grauberger. Once in the court system she was the division clerk for Judge Donald Smith from 1967-1971. When he was appointed to the Appellate Court, a job opened up as Chief Deputy Clerk and she was offered the job. She accepted that job so she could be closer to home rather than commute to Denver.
In 1975 she become Clerk of the Court for Arapahoe County District Court, a job she cherished and held for 18 years. She retired in 1993 after 28 years as a court employee to take care of her husband Bill and her parents whom she had relocated from Louisville to Littleton so she could be close to them.
Eileen was an avid sports fan. Her love of the Broncos and Nuggets was apparent in her Broncos and Nuggets outfits and knowledge of the teams and players. You always knew where she was on Sundays in the fall.
She made time for everybody in her life, family and friends alike. She is dearly loved by her sons Kevin and Perry, grandchildren Shane, Boczena, Joe and Whitney and her great grandchild Everett, her extended family daughter in law Joan, step granddaughters Jennifer and Allison, great step grandkids Will, Jack, Zach, Luke and Gracie, Shane’s wife Kerrie, Bo’s husband Brian and Shane’s mom Kelly Caswell.
She will live on in our hearts forever.
We love you Mom!!!!
