Emeline Silva-Johnson lived 101+ God-graced years. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother she passed peacefully in her sleep on August 5, 2023, at St. Bernadette Assisted Living in Centennial after enduring the challenges of Alzheimer’s for many years. Emeline was a long-time cosmetologist in the Denver area. She loved to sing and dance. She loved gardening.
Emeline was born on September 1, 1921, in Peñasco, New Mexico, moved to Las Animas, CO, and eventually, Denver. While she didn’t complete high school she graduated into married life with Theodore Salaz. After his premature death, she tackled the challenging job of being a cosmetologist spending many hours on her feet. How tiring that must have been while raising a family. Maybe that’s why she became the walker that she did later in her life receiving achievement awards and trophies in her age category as a competitive walker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Theodore Salaz, her brothers and sisters; her children Theodore Salaz, Jr (Renee Garcia), and Adreana Wright (Ronald); grandsons Steven Wright and Dean Toner;
She is survived by her children Cynthia Greene (Brian), Anthony Salaz, and Brenda Evans; her grandchildren Dan Wright, Amber Alcaraz (Lawrence), Brandi Schnurbusch (Kyle), Jennifer Lessard (Aaron), Melissa Toner, and Gabriel and Harmony Wilson;
Her great-grandchildren Joey, Michael, Thomas, and James Nitura; Taelor and Lauren Schnurbusch; Kenzie Toner; Alexis, Marley, and Lucas Lessard; Elijah and Kaleb Montes; and one great great grandchild, Mia Nitura; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be said on August 23rd, 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street, Centennial CO 80112
