George T. Harding, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 28th, 1936 to Mary and George Senior. Tom, as he was known, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2022. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March, was happy with his life and accomplishments, and decided not to fight it.
After serving in the Army as an aircraft mechanic he went to college at Purdue and graduated from Indiana University Kelly School of Business in 1966. Tom and Patricia met at Catholic Young Adults in 1961 and were married on August 17th, 1963. They moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1969 when Tom got a transfer to the Denver office of Alexander Grant and Company where he worked as an accountant. Tom later started his own accounting firm, Harding and Associates, from which he never really retired.
Tom was a devout Catholic and served in the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree member, Grand Knight of Council 3340, 10937 and 1498, State Deputy from 1989 to 1991 and most recently as Treasurer on the Colorado State Charities Board.
Tom was passionate about, and volunteered for decades along with his wife Patricia, with Colorado Special Olympics serving as a coach, mentor and board member. Tom was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2001 and is a Director Emeritus for the CSO.
Tom served as treasurer for the Rocky Mountain Goats Foundation and enjoyed spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren at International Order of Rocky Mountain Goats events.
He was an avid golfer and USGA Amateur, pitcher in South Suburban fast pitch league, leader in Y Indian Guides and Boy Scouts and taught his sons camping and fishing when on vacation every summer. Tom and Patricia enjoyed spending time together with the Mr. and Mrs. Club, bowling league and Colorado Symphony.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents George and Mary and brothers Paul and Craig. He is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Kevin (Sherry), Jason (Paula) and Shawn (Stephanie). He is also survived by grandchildren: Devin (Kayla), step-granddaughter Stephanie Kirkwood, step-grandson Steve Bowman (Linnea), Evan, Conner, Ella, Daniel (Sydney), Zachary and Lyndsie. He is further survived by great-grandchildren Raegan and Addison and step-greatgrandchildren Sidney, Rylie and Eli.
Recitation of the Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11:30AM. A reception will immediately follow at Marian Hall at the church.
Interment will be on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 10:15AM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery with military honors.
