Gerald “Jerry” Robert Bissett, 78, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 19, 1947, in Denver, Jerry was the eldest child of Robert and Helen (Flierl) Bissett. He grew up in Littleton alongside five younger siblings—Kenneth, Ronald, Gregory, Bruce, and Mary—where he first cultivated a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of tinkering with cars while helping at his father’s gas station and mechanic shop.
On April 8, 1967, Jerry married the love of his life, Louise Ann “Lou Ann” St. Germain, in Littleton. Together they built a beautiful life and family, welcoming Christine, Nicholas, and Heather in the years that followed. After the birth of their youngest child, Jerry and Lou Ann settled in Longmont, Colorado, where they raised their children amid a backdrop of camping trips, fishing excursions, and hikes in Wild Basin. Their home was filled with laughter, love, and the joy of shared adventures.
Jerry’s professional life was defined by dedication and excellence. Over the course of his career, he held a variety of roles in the engineering field before devoting more than three decades to information technology management and security. Known for his steadfast commitment, Jerry took great pride in his work. Colleagues recall that no matter how early they arrived, Jerry was always there before them—coffee in hand, ready to take on the day.
A man of insatiable curiosity, Jerry had a gift for learning deeply and sharing generously. Whether fixing cars, mastering new technology, building projects, or working through a complex puzzle, he approached challenges with meticulous attention to detail and a love of problem-solving. He especially delighted in creating joy for his family, with his legendary homemade ice cream becoming a cherished family tradition.
Above all, Jerry’s greatest devotion was to his family. His eyes sparkled most brightly in the presence of his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness. To his siblings, he was a protective and nurturing older brother, often stepping into the role of mentor and guide. To his children, he was a quiet but steady source of wisdom, encouraging them to explore new experiences and embrace life with curiosity and openness.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lou Ann; his children, Christine (Glenn) Hard, Nicholas (Angela) Bissett, and Heather (Chad) Abraham; and his treasured grandchildren, Shelby Hard, Maya Abraham, Tuscan Bissett, and Brooklyn Bissett. He is also survived by his siblings, Kenneth (Cindy) Bissett, Ronald (Beverly) Bissett, Gregory (Chris) Bissett, Mary (Jim) Schoen, and Bruce Bissett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Bissett.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted, the laughter he inspired, and the deep and abiding love he shared with his family.
A celebration of life will be held in Jerry’s honor on October 12, 2025, at Hudson Gardens at 2:30 pm. Light fare will be served, and friends and family are welcome to gather and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Jerry’s memory.
