Geraldine Gertrude Hassoldt, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on July 29, 1929, to Gerald and Ethel Woodruff in Denver, Colorado, Gerry lived a vibrant life filled with laughter, adventure, and love.
Gerry married WWII U.S. Navy Veteran Fred Hassoldt on November 20, 1949. Together, they built a life centered on family and shared passions. Known for her quick wit and humor, which she retained until the very end, Gerry had a special way of showing affection—if she liked you, she teased you. Her infectious laughter and warm spirit made her the heart of every gathering.
An avid water skier in her younger days, Gerry loved gliding across the waves. She also cherished casting a line while fishing with family and friends, a passion that grew in her later years. Her summers spent at Grand Lake with family and friends created lasting memories. She treasured playing card games with her grandchildren and sharing her love of movies and music, creating cherished memories that will live on.
Gerry was the architect of magical holiday memories, hosting fine dinners and festive gatherings that brought her family together. Her Christmas celebrations were filled with warmth, laughter, and love, leaving fond memories that her family will carry forever. Her Easter egg hunts were legendary, with grandchildren gleefully searching for brightly colored eggs, some so well-hidden they were found well into summer, sparking joy and laughter long after the holiday had passed.
Gerry's father, Gerald, often told her to keep her feet on the ground, advice she took quite literally—she never once flew in an airplane. Now, we know she is flying high, watching over us all with her boundless love and joyful spirit.
Gerry is survived by her three children: Francis Akers of Lakewood, Jerry Hassoldt of Grand Lake, and Betty (Dennis) Stafford of Grand Lake; as well as six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Hassoldt; her parents, Gerald and Ethel Woodruff; and her sister, Eleanor Shelton.
Gerry leaves behind a legacy of family, resilience, and love. Her memory will live on in the stories we tell, the music we play, and the laughter she inspired in us all.
Funeral service will be held at Drinkwine Family Chapel on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:30 AM with burial to follow (1:30 PM) at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
