Glen Barrett Obituary

Glen Galen Barrett, 85, passed away on January 16, 2025.  He was born in Englewood, CO, July 20, 1939.  Glen was known by all that loved him for his great sense of humor and amazing large smile.

Glen lived in Littleton, CO most of his adult life.  He graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1957.  At the age of 18 he moved to the Denver area and worked at his uncle’s junkyard.  He then landed a job at the Public Service Company in 1959 in the transportation department.  He worked his way up from serviceman to an apprentice, to mechanic, foreman, an inspector and lastly, a supervisor.  He retired from the company in 1994.

Glen worked tirelessly to provide for his growing family.  He built his first house in 1959.  He then built his second home in 1978.  He also helped his son Mike build his home in 1989.

Glen loved to fish and hunt.  He went on numerous fishing trips to Alaska and Canada.  He also enjoyed hunting and camping at his property north of Hayden, CO, Quaker Mountain.

His many loves were bowling, collecting old toys, mechanical banks, still banks, stamps, coins, and anything antique. He also built three hot rods from the ground up, making many of the parts and pieces by his own hand.  Glen also had the desire to know as much as he could about each and every one of his hobbies.  He would always buy the broken stuff because it was cheaper, then work tirelessly to fix it to better than new standards.

Glen was a devoted family man.  He loved his children, Larry, David, and Mike (Kristie) Barrett.  He had four grandchildren, Kori, Brodie, Jake and Josh.  He kept in touch with many of his cousins and friends over the years.  He married Raelene Mae Brownson in 1958, they divorced in 1994.

He is survived by his sister, Connie; his sons, Larry, and Mike (Kristie); grandchildren, Kori, Brodie, Jake and Josh.  He was preceded in death by his son, David; his brother, Kenny; his father and mother, Frank and Lucille and also Raelene Barrett.

Glen will be remembered by his devotion to his family and friends.  He worked around the clock to make sure each and every one was taken care of.  He shared many of his talents and skills with whomever needed them.  He even drew Mike’s house plans to scale and made out the lumber list.  When asked how he knew how to do that, he replied, “I took a drafting class in high school.” His biggest regret was not spending more time with his dad.  Glen, you will be dearly loved and missed by everyone who knew you.
