Harry Lautenbach Obituary

Harry Richard (Dick) Lautenbach

Dick, at age 93, went home to be with Jesus peacefully on August 21, 2024. Dick was born in Pella, Iowa, went to Pella High School and spent a semester at Central College taking courses to become an Insurance Agent, graduated from The Hartford Insurance Agents School, graduated from NAA and C.M. Art School for Electrical Engineering. After 3 years of study he became a CIC and Certified Investment Counselor. Dick served as a Private in the U. S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean war, never seeing combat. He was trained in Radar Maintenance. He was very proud to serve his country. Dick had his own insurance company from1950 to 2002 until he retired, and son Fred took over, “Lautenbach Insurance Agency” starting in Pella Iowa and then he moved his family to Littleton, Colorado in 1957.

Dick accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in the fall of 1972. He trained with Evangelism Explosion Courses and courses with Campus Crusade for Christ. He was also an adventurist and dreamer. After marrying Bonnie, the Love of his life in 1951, they traveled the world. They called their travels “Vacations with a Purpose”, encouraging missionaries wherever they went and sharing the Lord! They also loved God’s children with “Toys for Gods Kids”!

As much as he enjoyed all of his adventures, the most important things in his life beside his deep love for Jesus, was his wife, Bonnie of 72 years of marriage, and his family. Dick was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was always planning fun things and trips to do with all of his family! He enjoyed attending all of the different sports and activities of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He made a point of including each grandchild in their ‘Vacations with a Purpose’ exposing them to the world and his love of the Lord and people.

He truly was a Man of God! He will be deeply missed by his family!

Children: Connie (Tom) Grant, Debbie (Trey) Meyers and Fred (Lorie) Lautenbach.

Grandchildren: T (Sarah) Grant; Gigi (Jeff) Riddle, Nathan, and Luke (Haley) Meyers, Hannah (Andy) Denlinger and Jesse (Ty) Johnson.
Great grandchildren: Lindsay Riddle, Teson, Previn, Sebastian and Ryker Grant, Hank and Clyde Meyers, Levi, Amelia and Luke Denlinger, Boaz, and Malachi Johnson.

Dick’s favorite bible verse
1 John 5: 11-13

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Celebration of Dick and Bonnie’s lives will be at 11:00 a.m. on August 30th, at Grace Chapel, 935 Evalena Road, Castle Rock, CO 80108.
