Howard Jeffries Obituary

Howard McAllaster Jeffries, beloved husband, father, friend, and longtime Colorado insurance professional, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2026, with his wife by his side, following a massive heart attack. He was 88 years old.

Howard was born on July 29, 1937, in a small country clinic in Sumner County, Kansas, to Howard Theodore Jeffries and Clara Maud McAllaster Jeffries. Raised with strong Midwestern values, he often referred to himself proudly as “an ol’ farm boy” at heart.

Howard’s gift for connecting with people and his natural talent for sales began early in Lyons, Kansas, and continued throughout a remarkable career spanning more than 58 years in the Colorado insurance industry. He helped establish several insurance agencies, served on numerous professional and community boards, and eventually built his own brokerage business, working from home so he could remain close to his family. His work ethic, integrity, and ability to build lasting relationships earned him the respect and friendship of countless clients and colleagues.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Howard was known for his handyman skills and ability to fix just about anything. Whether helping family, neighbors, or friends, he was always willing to lend a hand. He was a devoted member of Littleton United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully in various church and community leadership roles over the years.

On February 15, 1959, Howard married the love of his life, Judy Lee Brayton of Little River, Kansas. Together they built a loving family and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. In 1968, Howard and Judy moved to Littleton, Colorado, where they made their home and raised their family, remaining there for the rest of his life.

Howard will be remembered as a devoted family man, lifelong friend, and a man with a generous heart whose kindness and humor touched many lives.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his two daughters, Jill (Paul) Clarke and Janie Jeffries; grandchildren Alyssa (Josh) Slack, Michael Clarke; 2 great-grandchildren Ryder and Mackenzie and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Barbara Bishop, Aletha Johns, Reba Johnson, Aladeen Kuhn, Lois Higgins, and Dale Hunter

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Littleton United Methodist Church. The service will also be live-streamed at LUMC.TV for those unable to attend in person. Flowers or contributions to the LUMC Memorial in memory of Howard Jeffries will be accepted at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S Datura Street, Littleton, CO, 80120.
