Jacob Leif Nielsen

Jacob Nielsen passed away August 3rd, 2023. He was 16 years old. Jacob was born March 6th, 2007, in Englewood, Colorado. He is survived by his adoring Mother- Rebecca Postma Nielsen, Father Leif Nielsen. In addition, he is survived by Sister- Brooke Garner; Brothers- Ryan Garner, Bruce Nielsen, Max Nielsen; Grandparents- Richard and Norma Postma; Grandmother- Gloria Nielsen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who will miss him deeply.

From the beginning Jacob was an absolute joy. He was an early walker, early talker and always on the go running and exploring. He was smart, his teachers loved him in school. He was known in school for trying to make his friends laugh and learning. Jacob was someone that other kids wanted to be friends with. He had a natural charisma and zest for life that others could see and were drawn to. Jacob had a wild imagination, was very creative, and loved to draw. He had many big dreams about what he wanted to be when he grew up. Jacob was a natural athlete and seemed to excel at any sport he tried. He was an amazing skier and kite boarder. He loved to game online with his friends from all over the country. He enjoyed surfing, water skiing, scuba diving, lacrosse and so much more. Jacob had a sweet and sensitive soul and a very big heart. He was so kind to little kids and animals. He shared a special bond with his dogs Maple and Jilly. In the past few years Jacob struggled with his emotions. He felt and expressed things in a very large way, whether it was happiness, sadness, love or anger. He found it difficult to forgive himself when he made mistakes and struggled to find his way through. Jacob was a bright star and always had so much love and joy to bring to the world. He will be missed by so many. Our hearts are broken, but we hope you are at peace.

Jacob, it was a privilege to have you in our lives for 16½ years, you will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2PM at Drinkwine Family Mortuary; a reception will immediately follow at Drinkwine's Reception Hall.

In lieu of flowers, Jacob's father would like donations to be made to any of the following: Children's Hospital/St. Jude www.stjude.org, Donor Alliance www.donoralliance.org or to Suicide Prevention www.afsp.org in Jacob's name and memory. 

Jacob's mother appreciates any donations made towards the funeral expenses for Jacob.
