James Bruce Obituary


James R. Bruce, 79, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on April 15, 2022.  He is survived by wife Tanis Bruce, children Bonnie (with husband Jason) and Daniel (with wife Sonja), 5 grand children Shannon, Rachel, Sydney, Addison and Myla, and by his sister Norma.  
 
James was born in Denver, Colorado on June 23rd 1942.  He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1960-1964 as a camera technician for reconnaissance missions in Wiesbaden, Germany. James graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a graduate degree from the University of Denver.
 
James married Tanis in 1971.  Although they met in Denver Colorado, their relationship grew to their engagement at the Schussbaumer Ski Club in Breckenridge Colorado.  His career in systems programming took Jim and Tanis from Colorado, California, Florida, to return to Colorado in 1987.
 
An avid computer programmer with lengthy career success with IBM, EDS and several advanced consulting positions, Jim loved to take care of the garden, build computers, and play computer games as a hobby.
 
Interment services will be held with military honors at 11:15 AM on May 13th at Ft. Logan National Cemetery (4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver), Staging Area "C".
 
Reception to follow immediately after at Angelo’s Taverna (6885 S. Santa Fe Drive Suite A).  All family and friends are welcome, but the family would appreciate RSVP ahead of time if you plan to attend.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation www.myasthenia.org in James' name and memory.
