James McDonald Obituary

James, age 65, passed away at St. Anthony’s Hospital surrounded by family on March 21, 2020. He was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, on February 15, 1955 to Patricia and James McDonald beside his two living sisters, Michelle and Patricia. He was a loving life partner and is survived by Nancy McDonald, married in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 6th, 1982, and their two children, Kathleen and Matthew and their spouses Charles and Danielle. On January 11, 2020 he was blessed with his first grandson, Liam James McDonald Gallegos. James worked for 3M his entire career as a Sales and Training Manager and retired in 2009, settling in Golden in 2014. He will always and forever be a Broncos fan, but James had two athletic passions, ski and golf. For just over 30 years, he was a racing coach for the Loveland Ski Club and was a 30-year member of The Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). He was very involved in his children’s athletic careers and extracurricular interests. He was a past president of the Rocky Mountain Swim League, head timer for the Cherry Creek High School girls swim team, coached soccer, attended countless gymnastics competitions and learned to sit through many choir concerts and baseball games. He always appreciated a good science project.

Father Joseph Tran will officiate private services (family only) on Friday, March 27, 2020.

James’ family suggests memorial funds are given to The Dumb Friends League www.ddfl.org/tribute. The McDonald’s adopted Twister, their beloved dog back in 2007. James and Twister were inseparable.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

His family will miss his twinkly blue eyes, contagious smile and sense of humor. He brought joy to all who had the opportunity to know him.
