James "Jim" Jackman Obituary

Jim Jackman, a Denver native, was born on February 12, 1956. He grew up in Littleton, Colorado, attending Peabody Elementary, where he first met kindergarten classmate and future wife. He later graduated from Arapahoe High School. Jim continued his education at Colorado State University, earning a degree in Business.

Jim’s professional journey began as a traveling field representative for Telecommunications, Inc., which later evolved into Comcast. He played a key role in producing telethons to promote HBO, working either as the on-air talent or behind the scenes directing and filming. His career progressed when he joined Harmon Cable Communications, where he dedicated many years and eventually became President. Following the company’s sale in the late 1990s, Jim transitioned into real estate development, channeling his entrepreneurial spirit into management and ownership. He remained committed to creating opportunities that benefited his family and supported his favorite charities, leaving a legacy of dedication, creativity, and love.

Jim cherished his time with friends and family in both Denver and La Quinta, California. An avid golfer, he was a regular at Cherry Hills Country Club and the Hideaway Golf Club. His love for golf and travel allowed him to explore many beautiful destinations worldwide. A devoted Colorado sports fan, Jim rarely missed a Broncos game and frequently attended Rockies games. He deeply valued the enduring relationships he cultivated throughout his life and was a loyal, steadfast friend to many.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Beth. He was her rock and constant partner, ever since they began dating in junior high school. He also leaves behind his three cherished children: Paige, Perry (Steve Ladd), and Patrick (Lauren). Jim was incredibly proud of them and treasured the close, heartfelt bonds they shared. One of his greatest joys was witnessing his children grow into caring, engaged parents as well as kind and accomplished individuals. The light of his life was his six adored grandchildren: James, Logan, Lane, Billie, John, and Sunny. Known lovingly as “Papa,” Jim embraced every family gathering with enthusiasm, serving as activities director, number one fan, photographer, travel planner, sous chef, and cleanup master.

Jim is also survived by lifelong friends and in-laws Frank and Holly Hutto, and Pat Dunahay, as well as his sister, Trish Waltz, and nieces, Shae Thurman, Jordan McCarty and nephew Cade Dunahay.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Cherry Hills Country Club on Friday, November 22nd, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of his favorite charities, The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or a charity of your choosing.
