Jan Elizabeth Peterson
Jan Peterson passed away April 7, 2021 at her home, Delaware House, a small group home administered by Bethesda Lutheran Communities. She was preceded in her passing by her mother and father, Barbara and David Peterson. She leaves behind her brothers, Eugene Peterson of Grand Junction Colorado and Thad Peterson of Johns Island, South Carolina along with her second family at Delaware house. Jan and her mother were pioneers in increasing awareness of developmental disabilities in the Denver area, helping to establish the Cerebral Palsy Center in Denver in the 1950’s. Jan’s mother made a point of taking Jan with her to retail outlets at a time where people with developmental disabilities were often hidden from view and given little exposure to the community.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
