Janice Lou Grier (nee Schlumbohm), 78, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on December 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Jan was born on July 15, 1945, to Elsie and Edward Schlumbohm in Indiahoma, Oklahoma. She left home and became a flight attendant in an era when it was glamorous, and met young Tommy Francis Grier Jr., a Flight Instructor at the Army Rotary Wing Flight School in Fort Wolters, Texas in August of 1967. They fell in love and were married a few months later, on December 9, honeymooning in beautiful Colorado. Jan and Tommy went on to have three sons, Thomas (Tom), Judson (Jud) and Anthony (Andy).
Jan was the consummate military wife seeing her family through multiple moves to different states and, always a loving wife and mother, making each new house a happy home.
The family finally settled in Centennial, Colorado in 1987, and as the boys grew up and moved away, Jan pursued her passion for painting and she and Tommy enjoyed their fur-babies (their beloved schnauzers), and spending time at their place in beautiful Georgetown, Colorado, hiking, gardening, fishing, and making memories. Jan loved dancing, Christmas music and Elvis Presley. She left us having just celebrated 56 years of marriage to her adoring husband Tommy.
Jan was overjoyed to become a grandmother in 2007, and Grammy will always be remembered by her granddaughter, Lily, for her delicious coffee cake and epic tea parties with her antique dolls.
Jan is survived by her husband, Tommy, sons, Tom, Jud and Andy, daughter-in-law Chris and granddaughter, Lily. She will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service is to be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Drinkwine Family Mortuary, 999 West Littleton Boulevard, Littleton, CO 80120.
