Jerald Randy Toovey, lovingly called Randy, at 79 passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Littleton, Colorado. Born on February 11, 1945, in Montgomery, Tennessee, Randy lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Randy honorably served as a Navy corpsman assigned to a Marine division during the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment to his fellow service members earned him three Purple Hearts. This period of his life showcased his courage and selflessness—qualities that defined him throughout his years.
After his military service, Randy pursued a bachelor's degree in nursing before embarking on a remarkable 42-year career with United Airlines as a Storekeeper in the maintenance department. Known for his work ethic and dependability, he left a lasting impression on colleagues, friends and family.
Randy was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and motorcycle riding. He also had a deep appreciation for firearms and shooting sports. Randy loved to garden, each summer for over 20 years he would grow an abundance amount of zucchini, yellow squash and cucumbers along with other vegetables. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, whose love and support were the cornerstone of his life.
A man of great compassion, Randy devoted much of his time to volunteering with organizations such as Dry Bones, Family Promise, Denver Rescue Mission, Urban Peak, the VA and The Crossing. Through these efforts, he touched countless lives and exemplified generosity in action.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife Cindie; his children Maegan, Scotty (Scotty’s wife Jennifer, referred to as “The little one”), Brian (known as Micro), and Sarah; his grandchildren Cory, Crystal, Thomas, Riley, Liam, Johnny, Scarlett, Quinn, and Jillian; and his nephew Robby. He was predeceased by his mother Georgia; stepfather CD; father William; and daughter Michelle.
Randy's legacy is one of courage, kindness, and devotion to family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Drinkwine Family Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, staging area 'C'.
