Jessie Cornett

Jessie Cornett born October 6th, 1934 - died May 11th, 2020 

Jessie Cornett passed away, May 11, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born the youngest of 11 children in Leedey Oklahoma. Born on a family homestead that never had running water or indoor plumbing, he grew to live an amazing and fulfilling life.

When his mother, Jessie Robinson Cornett, died when he was only 8 years old, he was largely raised by his elder siblings and his father, Boyd Foster Cornett. Jessie graduated high school as one in a class of only 20 students. Following high school, Jessie joined the United States Marine Corps where he made Sargent in only 3 years. On March 3, 1956, Jessie married the love of his life, Carol Ann Brady. Throughout their 64 years of marriage they raised 2 children, Jessie David and Carol Suzanne. After serving his time in the USMC, Jessie, with just his high school diploma, became very successful in his industry. At the time of his retirement the regional president stated that Jessie was one of a few internationally recognized in his field, and the name Jessie Cornett was spoken frequently in over 20 languages. While he loved traveling the world and seeing new places, Jessie was never happier than when he was home and spending time with his family. Jessie loved to fish and camp and took great pleasure in passing that love along to his children and grandchildren. Jessie leaves behind the love of his life, Carol, his son David and his daughter Suzanne. He also leaves behind, four grandchildren, Jason Richard Wood, Erin Marie (Wood) Howell, Jessie Adam Cornett and Jacob David Cornett, as well as his four adoring great-granddaughters, Peyton Reese, Rylen Elizabeth, Addison Calliope and Jessie Victoria. Jessie’s family adored him in every possible way, he will forever be missed, but never forgotten, as his lessons and his love will live on in each and every one of us.
