Johanna Champine Obituary

Johanna (D’Angelo) Champine, 78, of Castle Pines, Colorado passed away on July 13, 2020. Johanna was born on July 6,1942 to Charles Joseph and Mary Ann (Arcilesi) D’Angelo in Louisville, Kentucky.

Johanna graduated from St Theresa High School, Detroit Michigan in 1960. In the summer before their Senior year, she met Dennis Champine who attended nearby Central Catholic High School. Dennis joined the Marine Corp, they married in 1961, and moved to Oceanside, California where sons Jeff and Brett were born. In 1964, they moved back to Detroit where daughter Dana was born. A career move brought them to Seattle where son Earl was born in 1967. They soon after found Colorado, raised their family and called it home.

Johanna loved her early life as a mother by being a fulltime homemaker. When her children attended school, she started working part time outside the home. In 1973, she began her 45 year career as a real estate broker/owner earning many awards and achieving the status of Realtor Emeritus from the National Association of Realtors for her lasting contribution to the real estate profession in her community.

After her children left home, Johanna pursued many interests. She loved to play golf, ski and run in 5k events. Her most challenging expeditions were completing several Outward Bound courses in Colorado and New Zealand. She enjoyed travel with her sisters that included a trip navigating their heritage in Italy. She also loved music, playing the piano and guitar. Johanna was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Johanna is survived by her son Jeff (Melissa) Champine, Chancellor, Cayden and Casey; son Brett Champine, Mark and Hanna; daughter Dana (Mark) Champine, Lauren and Alexa; and son Earl Champine, Madison and Lawson; sister, Vita Hawkins; brothers, Leonard D’Angelo and Paul D’Angelo. Johanna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ida and Mary Ann; and brother Charles D’Angelo.
