They made their home in the Pacific Northwest and Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Joyce loved her family and loved spending as much time with them as possible. She spent the last years of her life in the caring company of her granddaughter.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Frank Hammack and Clifford Stevens, her siblings June Gabel, Nora Nordeen and Gerald Hammack, her husbands Jack Buterbaugh and Richard North, and sons-in-law Larry Beattie and Steven Sorenson. She is survived by her children Susan Beattie of Highlands Ranch, Robin Sorenson of Wiggins, Timothy (Shelley) Buterbaugh of Aurora, Rebecca (Brian) Welton of Sterling, and Jacque (Bret) Stroh of Wyoming, as well as her grandchildren Monica (Jason) Vallana, Heather (Charles) Vogel, Nicholas (Timm) Beattie, Janet (Justin) Manning, Jackson (Rebecca) Engelbrecht, Eric (Charlotte) Sorenson, Cory (Alyssa) Sorenson, Erin Buterbaugh, Rachel (fiancé Steve Vanderheide) Buterbaugh, Leslie (Asher) O'Callaghan, and Johnna Welton. Joyce was involved with Ladies' Aide, her bowling league, and church in Kiowa, Colorado until moving to Washington state and Highlands Ranch.
Joyce passed into eternal life surrounded by the love of her family, all of whom look forward to seeing her again one day soon. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
