Karlene Marie Austgen was born on November 21, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. The Lord called her Home on April 30, 2020.
She attended Englewood Schools, where she was involved in the music programs. She graduated in 1968.
Karlene served for many years as a certified nursing assistant, doing both home visits and live-in care for a number of patients. She then had a second career as an interviewer for the Census Bureau, assisting with surveys in the Fremont County before returning to Englewood to perform the same work in the front range area.
She also volunteered with several church and faith based organizations, most recently with Love, INC Littleton.
Karlene is survived by her son, Patrick Lohr, her daughter-in-law Carrie, and grandchildren Barrett, Allison, and Blake, of Elizabeth, Colorado; her sister, Larilyn Ashlock, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth King, both of Englewood; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Elaine King, and her brother, Larry.
Her friends and family will plan a time of remembrance for later in the year, with details to be shared as circumstances permit the gathering to happen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests volunteering in her honor, or making donations to Love, INC Littleton.
