Kathleen (Schiel) Anunti

Kay was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was loved by all. She will always be cherished as our “Mama Kay.”  

Kay was born June 9, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois to Augusta (Koering)  and Frank Schiel. When Kay was 12 years old the family moved to Duluth. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1947. Kay married John Anunti, her husband of 51 years, February,1948.  Together they had three children; Kathy, Linda, and John. 

In1968, John and Kay moved to Littleton, Colorado for the warmer and dryer air. Kay loved the mountains and the warm sunshine. Kay was completely devoted to caring for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her heart and joy! 

Kay was a good friend to all! The coffee was always on and within seconds food would be on the table. Kay loved having friends and family around her kitchen table.

On December 30, 2020 Kay passed peacefully at the age of 91. Her son John and grandson Dan were at her side. Of course she had to get to heaven to celebrate her husband’s upcoming birthday on New Year’s Day and to be with grandson Michael Arkulary.  

Kay was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Augusta and Frank Schiel, sisters Rose Reed and Dolores Merriman, brother Leroy Schiel, and grandson Michael Arkulary. She is survived by daughters Kathy (Robert) Mathias, Linda Anunti, son John (Sheila) Anunti, grandchildren Kathy (Tim) Cortes, Matt (Sara) Mathias, Mark Anunti, Drew Anunti, Dan (Alicia  Montoya) Arkulary, sister Noreen Begordis, great-grandchildren Nick and Maddy Cortes, Aizley and Max Mathias, Averi Anunti, Max Vigil, and many very special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be January 12, 2021 at Drinkwine Mortuary in Littleton, Colorado at 2:00 p.m. Service to follow. Burial will be in January 15, 2021 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.
