Kathleen Veronica Gibson

Kathy V. (Klismet) Gibson, passed away April 27th, 2023 in Littleton, CO freeing her from her two-year battle with dementia. 

Kathy was born November 20, 1947 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Peter M. Klismet and Loraine E. (Steffenson) Klismet. In 1950 the Klismet's settled in Englewood, Colorado with Kathy and her four siblings. Kathy attended St. Louis Catholic School, followed by Flood Middle School, and then Englewood High School where she was a member of FBLA, Pep Club, and was State Shorthand Champion the year she graduated in 1965. After graduating Kathy worked for the Federal Government and at Martin Marietta. In 1972 Kathy married Freddie T.  Gibson. In 1974 Shane T. Gibson was born and shortly after Kathy left Martin Marietta. In 1977 Kristen Gibson was born on Mothers Day. Kathy remained at home raising her family but also worked part time around her children's school schedule. In 1987 Freddie and Kathy separated but did not divorce until 2004. However, they always remained friends. Freddie passed away in 2017.  Kathy returned to the workforce full time in 1987 as an Administrative Assistant at BANC Property Services & Coldwell Banker until 1991. From 1991 to 92 she was a bookkeeper at Sheridan High School. In 1993 Kathy began working at Arapahoe County Human Services where she held various positions over the years until she retired as a Program Specialist in 2014. Kathy spent all of her life caring for her greatest joys her children and two grandchildren from Shane and Virginia Gibson, Ariel (Gibson) Hartzler and Logan Gibson. Any time she wasn't working she enjoyed being with her family more than anything else. Family was a very important part of her life as she was cherished and dearly loved by them.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son Shane Gibson (Virginia) of Florida and their two children. Also, by her daughter Kristen Gibson of Englewood, Colorado. Also by her older brother Peter Klismet Jr. (Nancy), her younger brother James Klismet, and two younger sisters Cheryl Embrey (Paul Sr.), and Merry Devlin (Ted, deceased). In addition to many nieces and nephews. Kathy's kindness, compassion, and empathy for others will hopefully be carried on by those who were touched by her life. Her sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around her through the years. She will always be missed immensely and forever loved by her family and friends.

Service for Kathy Gibson will be May 11, 2023 at 2 pm at Drinkwine Mortuary in Littleton, Colorado.
