Kenneth W. Ray, 89, died January 7, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born October 13, 1931 in a small farming community, Possum Walk, Missouri, the son of Donald Lewis Charles Ray and Lona Edna (Dolph) Ray.
Kenneth (aka “Kenney”) graduated as valedictorian from Pickering High School, Class of 1949. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a high-speed radio operator. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a Depot Agent and Telegrapher with the C.B.&Q. Railroad company. Kenneth worked as an accountant for over 35 years at Sinclair Refining Company, Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Company, and Chevron. Kenneth loved family gatherings, road trips, the Colorado mountains, and maintaining immaculate cars.
He married his bride, Catherine Jeanne (Powell) Ray on September 19, 1954 celebrating 66 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Jeffery and David, daughters-in-law, Kristy and Becky, grandchildren Erin Liebman, Michael Ray and Megan Cooper, great-grandchildren Archie and Milo. He is also survived by a sister, Lola Mae Bradley.
A service of remembrance will be scheduled for immediate family members only at Littleton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial and tribute donations are being directed to the church (5894 S. Datura St., Littleton, CO 80120) or to the Denver Hospice (8289 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230).
