It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend, LUCY MARTINEZ. Lucy left this world peacefully on March 5, 2025 at the age of 92. Long time resident of Alamosa, Colorado, she moved to Denver after the death of her beloved husband, Lawrence Martinez in 1984. She recently lost her son, Jim Martinez who died unexpectedly on January 14, 2025. Though Lucy had been in failing health in recent years, the impact of losing her son contributed to her final failing health. She was also preceded in death by her loving sister, Beatrice Ward, and brother Manuel Tolmich.
Lucy was a compassionate, fun- loving individual who had a large, loving family, and many, many friends. She made friends everywhere she went. She loved family gatherings and participating in group activities with friends. She was especially fond of gambling at Black Hawk & Central City. She is survived by her daughter BettyJo McWilliams (Tom), Larry Martinez (Sherry), six grandsons, Jeffrey, Jim, & David McWilliams, Stefan & William Martinez, & Kelly Sinopoli-Martinez, six great grandchildren and one more expected in May. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services Pending.
