Margaret Joan Breen was born in The Bronx, New York, on August 6, 1930. She is a proud alumnus of Mepham High School and SUNY New Paltz State University. Growing up on Long Island and working at Jones Beach before moving to Littleton, Colorado in the 60s, where she was an avid skier with the Schussbaumer Ski Club in Breckenridge, Colorado, and worked as a teacher for the Littleton School District. She met George in the mid-60s and married on April 23, 1966. In 1971, George, Margaret, Michael, and Kathy moved to Bow Mar. Her talents and interests led to a variety of occupations, from USTA tennis umpire to real estate agent to master gardener.
Margo loved life in Colorado. From early skiing with the Schussbaumers to free senior lift passes. Between seasons were filled with tennis, golf, sailing, and gardening. She earned her nickname, Margo Andretti, in her ’64 Chevy with the top down. A lot of miles were put in just by exploring from California to the East Coast. Trips with George were always exciting, and even the cruises were packed with activities. She loved music and was in choirs and a group singing at various nursing homes around town. Country music was her favorite, and attending Brad Paisley and Beachboy concerts were highlights of the past few years. An intellectual with a fantastic sense of humor, infectious laugh, and smile. She was an avid Broncos fan and all other CO sports teams.
On December 27th, her heart and lungs were not able to keep up with her spirit, and she left us to be with George. She is survived by her children, Michael (Kim), and Katherine, her sister June Gangel, and several nieces and nephews.
