Maria Dolores (Lolly) Rivas, was born in El Salvador in 1931 and died in Denver in 2020. During her life in El Salvador, she had her own business as a well-known seamstress, and always opened her warm house to relatives and/or friends in need and provided and protected the very ones who came to her. Mom was funny and she was known for her contagious laughter. She enjoyed a good joke, crosswords, puzzles, dancing, reading Christian and motivational books and telling good stories. She was an admirable woman who, through sacrifice, raised her two daughters in an era when women solely depended on men and she did it alone under the guidance of mighty God. She instilled in us honesty of character that, to date, is a guiding force in us. She did not negotiate lack of studying because school was a must and a duty. She had the built-in leadership that was a perfect example to follow. She never gave up.
Mom, we love you and you will be in our hearts and memory forever. Mom, your funny anecdotes still bring us profound joy and laughter. We know you are having a grand time in heaven. You are an example to follow and it is our hope that we measure up to your exemplary life of sacrifice and love.
Survived by sister Rosa Mercado Rivas; her daughters Elsa (Gary) Estes, Diana (Jose) Sans and Morena Guadalupe Rivas (predeceased); and her grandchildren Adriana and Rafael Sans and their spouses Jeroen Wich and Sarah Sans.
Private Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 19th 11:00AM at Drinkwine Family Mortuary; interment will follow at 1:00PM at Crown Hill Cemetery.
