Mary Alice Hercher

Mary Alice (Maggie) passed on 6/17/24 at age 91 in Littleton Colorado of natural causes.  

She was born in Chicago and grew up in Beverly and Elmhurst. She was the second of five Grimes children, older brother Bill, younger sisters Joanie and Peggy and younger brother Jack. She attended Immaculate Conception and graduated from York High School, matriculated to the University of Illinois (DeltaDeltaDelta) and then the University of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents Patrick Grimes DDS and Mary of Chicago, brother Navy Capt William, daughter Mary Susan (2020) and her husband of 53 years Richard Hercher (Sr.) in 2007.  

They were engaged at Red Rocks in Colorado and married in Elmhurst in November 1954 and had 5 children, Richard (Jr). Mary Susan, John, Patricia and Robert.  She was grandmother of 10, and great grandmother of 7.  One of her happiest moments was at a family wedding expressing how proud she was of all these people she had “created”!

She was a lovely wife and mother who dedicated her life to her children and positively enjoyed all the many people who loved her and all the sunny days in her life. She was very sweet, kind-hearted, smart, thoughtful and funny.

The Hercher Family will be having a private service.
