Mary Rowden Obituary

Mary Jalayn Rowden, 86, passed away on October 18, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was born on October 19, 1937, in Great Bend, KS, to Irvin and Marcella Melcher, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her siblings Margaret Ann, John Douglas, Phyllis Jean, Lawrence Ray, and Janet Gail. Her husband, Jim, and her son, Mike, also preceded her in death.

Mary was a devoted Catholic who cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Renowned for her exceptional cooking, she was particularly famous for her fried chicken.

Mary was born and raised in rural Kansas. In 1970, she and her husband relocated their family to Colorado, where she continued her banking career for over 20 years. She eventually left the banking industry to dedicate more time to her family and friends. Following her husband's passing, she relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Mary had a passion for gardening, enjoyed working on puzzles, eating dairy queen ice cream and loved collecting owls. One of her favorite pastimes was keeping up with the news about Donald Trump.

Mary is survived by her daughter Carolyn Breece (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her son Scott Rowden (Maryanne) of Greely, CO; her daughter Tina Cordova (Harold) of Littleton, CO; and her son David Rowden (Keri) of Frederick, CO. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
