Merle Bagshaw Obituary

Merle “Ray” Bagshaw was born in rural Las Animas Colorado in 1942 to parents Wilis Bagshaw and Ruby Maphet Bagshaw and passed away on December 26th, 2024.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Bagshaw of Littleton; son Jeff Bagshaw and wife Liz of Firestone, CO; son Greg Bagshaw and wife Chrissy of Littleton, CO; Grandchildren Allyson Bagshaw, James Bagshaw, and Bradley Bagshaw. Ray was preceded in death by his parents as well as stepmother Melba Grandstaff Bagshaw; brother Max Bagshaw of Houston, Texas; sister Joyce Pauls of Belleville, Kansas; and sister Lynne Goodman of Jasper, Indiana

In his early life his family moved to Liberal, Kansas where he spent the rest of his childhood and graduated from Liberal High School. Upon graduating high school, Ray entered the Kansas National Guard where he spent the next 6 years until meeting his future bride. After he and Donna married in 1966, they moved to the Dallas Texas metropolitan area where they started a family and lived until 1981 when they moved here to Littleton.

Ray had numerous interests throughout his life including golf and fishing, although later in life he could often be found in his favorite chair with a good book. Ray very much enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. As he was quite handy, he could often be found performing various home repairs and yard work around their home.

After marrying the Love of his Life, Donna in 1966, Ray entered the field of civil drafting in Dallas, Texas. From there he worked his way through the drafting ranks into the energy industry where he was involved in the mapping and engineering of coal mines, primarily relating to the Powder River Basin in Wyoming, where he traveled frequently during this portion of his career. In 1989 Ray and Donna started their own printing franchise here in Littleton, CO and he ran that enterprise until his retirement in 1999.
