Nadine Beitel Obituary

A. Nadine Beitel was born July 9 to Houston J. Goodman and Dolly Britt Goodman in Pekin, Ill. She had an older brother, Samuel Goodman. In 1955, she graduated from El Segundo High School in El Segundo, CA. She went on to study Home Economics at Colorado State College of Education where she met James Ellery Beitel.

James and Nadine were married on December 15, 1957, at Bethel Baptist Church in Denver, CO. They lived in Englewood, CO, and raised two daughters, Linda and Darla. Nadine was a devoted wife to James. They spent nearly 63 wonderful years together, during which they traveled all over the United States, as well as to Israel. She had a passion for Israel and the historical significance of that nation. Throughout her life, Nadine kept an immaculate home and was a welcoming hostess. Nadine also became a licensed realtor in the late 1970s.

Nadine deeply valued people, nurturing friendships spanning several decades across the United States. She was the family historian. She and James made friends everywhere they went. She loved writing and receiving letters (she had beautiful handwriting). She was a wonderful storyteller, weaving wisdom into every conversation.

From handcrafted clothing to inventing nicknames for her grandchildren (whom she doted upon), Nadine was truly creative. She was a consummate seamstress and knitter – crafts she passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. She had a wonderful ear for music, always humming a tune and listening to the radio. She was very involved in choir. She also enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and faith-based historical fiction. Nadine was detail-oriented and meticulous; she had an elaborate Snow Village collection she displayed every Christmas.

Nadine was constantly in awe of the beauty of Creation. She loved sunsets, sunshine, walking in the snow, and watching the Moonrise from her kitchen window. She grew beautiful roses at her homes in Colorado and Arizona.

Most importantly, Nadine loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She was a great student of the Bible. She taught Sunday School, AWANA, and Pioneer Girls. She participated in Bible Study Fellowship for over 40 years (completing the curriculum multiple times), as well as Cup to Cup, community, and church Bible studies. She and James were shepherds in the College and Careers group at Mission Hills. When they wintered in Arizona, they were integral members of Faith Bible Church, where they served in many areas. Whether she was signing a hymn or a contemporary worship song, she praised God with her whole heart. The love of Jesus shone through her every word and action.

Nadine entered Heaven on January 24, 2023. She is predeceased by her parents, brother, husband, and two nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dempsey (Don) and Darla Davis (Joel), her grandchildren, Jeffery Dempsey (Heather), Brian Dempsey, Christa Denison (Lee), and Laura Davis, and her nephew, Ron Goodman (Rosie).
