Norma Retamal Postma, 85, passed away peacefully in her bed after spending the day with her loving family on Dec. 31st, 2025. Born on July 5th, 1940 to Rosalino and Sara Retamal in Valparaiso, Chile, she immigrated to Logan, Utah when she was 23 after she and her mother converted to the LDS faith, and received a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University, where she met her future husband, Richard Postma. The two wed on August 13th, 1965, and were together for 60 years. They had 5 children, and after raising her family, she earned her teaching license from Metro State University, and taught English-as-a-Second-Language in Denver at West High School for 10 years.
Norma lived in several places including Kentucky, Texas, Louisiana, and even overseas in Bogota, Colombia, before finally settling in Littleton, Colorado. She was very active in her church, loved tending to her flower garden, and regularly participated in her kids’ school and group activities. After retirement she prioritized her grandkids’ sports and school events, and was always eager to babysit and spend time with them. She was also an avid reader and regularly held a neighborhood book club in her home. In her youth she enjoyed outdoor activities, like riding her bike around town, and adventuring into the Chilean countryside.
She is survived by her 5 children, Richard Postma Jr, Rebecca Postma, Barbara (John) Daugherty, John Postma, and Rosalyn (Kris) Vette, and 12 grand kids and 6 great grand kids.
Services will be held at the Littleton LDS church building on Saturday, January 10th, at 11:00am at 910 W Ridge Rd, Littleton, CO 80120.
