Patricia Ann Amsler was born January 6, 1937 in Franklin, TN and passed away on December 17, 2025 in Littleton, CO at age 88 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was an only child to Janie Malinda and Walter Brice Wilson. Ann’s family moved around during her childhood so she spent time in Franklin, TN; Caruthersville, MO; and St. Louis, MO. She graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis, MO in 1955 and attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO graduating in 1957 with an Elementary Education Certificate. Between 1957 and 1962, Ann worked in a St. Louis hospital as a medical secretary for a pathologist and spent some time in Springfield, MO attending classes at Southwest Missouri State College. She met Larry Carl Amsler in a Sunday school class at church in Springfield and they married on May 4, 1963 at First Baptist Church in Ferguson, MO. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage before Larry’s passing in 2022.
Larry and Ann moved to Colorado shortly after their wedding for Larry to begin his career in Aerospace Engineering at Martin Marietta. Ann worked as a medical secretary at Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver until 1966 when their son Gary was born. In 1967, they headed back to Missouri where Larry worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. In 1969, their daughter Karen was born and 3 months later they moved back to Colorado where Larry worked again for Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin and Ann dedicated her time to homemaking and raising their children.
Ann was funny, generous, caring, loving, and a good listener. When she was young, she loved to dress up in fancy clothes and sunglasses and her aunts would proclaim “Ann’s going to Hollywood!” She loved cats, snowmen, chocolate, nuts, popcorn, Dr. Pepper, shopping and naps, often telling friends and family that she needed her “beauty rest.” She was involved in Gary and Karen’s school activities, never missing a sporting event, concert, or play and she also volunteered in the classroom and served on the PTO at their schools. Ann loved her five grandchildren who called her GrammyAnn. She spent time with them playing games and watching shows, taking them shopping and out to eat, attending their school and sporting events and giving them rides to and from school when needed. Ann loved to entertain and was a good cook, oftentimes hosting events with full place settings and decorations for every holiday. She loved to make sure everyone was well fed, including the backyard squirrel and Forrest, the neighbor’s cat.
Ann enjoyed the regular “ladies lunches” she and her friends attended to celebrate birthdays and other occasions. She also always had funny tales to tell of adventures from trips she took with friends and family. She was well prepared when going anywhere, her purse fully stocked with tissues, lotion, cough drops, gum, mints, hand wipes and crackers (in case she needed a snack). Larry and Ann were active members of University Hills Baptist Church in Denver for over 40 years, where Ann sang in the choir, taught children’s Sunday school, worked in childcare for MOPS, and volunteered with the youth group. Larry and Ann were actively involved in the Mountaineers Square Dance Club together where they served in several leadership positions and enjoyed attending local dances and traveling to dances with the club members.
Ann is survived by her children, Gary and Karen; her daughter-in-law, Susan; her son-in-law, Kevin; her grandchildren, Naomi and Sophie; Caleb, Cameron, and Carly; and several cousins.
