Patricia Stallings Obituary

Patricia Carolyn Stallings

1933 – 2021

Patricia Carolyn (Pat) Stallings, 87, from Littleton Colorado, passed away unexpectedly July 27, 2021 at home. She was born in East St Louis, Illinois to Velma Delores Downey and Peter Harshany on November 28, 1933. She graduated from Central High School in 1951, then attended St. Louis University and graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Pat then briefly taught elementary school, before marrying her high school sweetheart, Richard Lawrence (Dick) Stallings, on March 2, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, East St. Louis.

Subsequently, Pat joined Dick in New Orleans, Louisiana where she effectively managed the household, supporting Dick in his first job at Chevron Operations office, while giving birth and raising their four children. Their union resulted in a successful 58 year partnership.

After fourteen years working in Louisiana and one year in California, Pat and Dick started a new adventure, accepting an overseas assignment with Chevron, in Perth, Western Australia. This was the first of many future moves over the next 23 years bouncing around the globe. They lived and worked in Australia (COPI), Madagascar, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, England, China, and again back to Australia. Pat organized the children, packed/unpacked households, enrolled the kids in schools, handled language issues, while all the time managing and supporting her household and Dick’s career. After living overseas for many years, Pat's expertise helped many families relocating to their first overseas assignment. Pat and Dick thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cultures of each country. Despite some language challenges, Pat rose to the occasion and excelled in haggling in multiple languages (i.e. French, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch and Chinese) and mastered her own global signing technique. Pat got her point across and vendors seemed to enjoy interacting with her.  She always left them with a smile on their faces.

In 1992, Pat and Dick retired and moved to Littleton, Colorado. Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman and Pat supported and joined Dick in these new adventures. Pat and Dick traveled to locales as diverse as Montana to Botswana. When not traveling, Pat enjoyed their beautiful home in Littleton along with their pairs of hunting dogs, as well as enjoying their treasures collected around the globe.

Pat's hobbies were skiing, cooking, reading and enjoying her bridge and stock clubs.

Pat is survived by her children, Richard Stallings of Oceanview, Hawaii, Michael Stallings of Centennial, Colorado and Margaret (Steven Mullan) Stallings of River Falls, Wisconsin; five grand-children Megan (Riley Simmons) Stallings, Alec Stallings, Patrick Mullan, Christopher Mullan, and Nicholas Mullan. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Dick on October 20, 2015 and her youngest daughter, Katherine Marie Stallings on February 20, 2011.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St,. Mary Catholic Church in Littleton, Colorado. An after service reception will be held at Pat's home to celebrate and honor her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - www.stjude.org or a Cancer or Hospice Foundation of your choice in Pat's name and memory.
