Paul Grant Barrett Jr.

Paul Grant Barrett Jr. passed away on November 23 rd 2022 in Littleton Colorado. He previously was from Portland Oregon and then later Princeville Illinois prior to moving to
Colorado three years ago. Paul was born in Columbus Ohio on September 12th , 1943 to Paul and Virginia Barrett. After high school, Paul joined the United States Air Force. Later he joined the Portland Fire Department as a firefighter/ paramedic and eventually as Chief Arson Investigator until his retirement.
 

He married Susan Ann Matteri on June 22 nd 1968 in Portland Oregon and they went on to have five daughters. He is survived by his wife, Susan; children Lisa (Tim) Roder, Emily Barrett, Alison (Tim) Glass, Teresa (Mike) Lutz; 19 Grandchildren Joseph (Talene), Paul (Rachel), Thomas, Dominic, Maria and Isaac Roder; Luke, Elias, Jude, Margaret, Josephine, Clara and Gemma Glass; Benjamin, Charles, Dominic, John Paul, William and Andrew Lutz and three Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Sheila (Jerry) Gill and Scott Barrett as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Julie, and an infant granddaughter, Gianna.
 

Paul enjoyed the outdoors and traveling with Susan after his retirement. Even after 54 years of marriage, they still found ways to laugh and enjoy each other's company daily. Known for his eagerness to volunteer and lend a hand, Paul was often found doing acts of service. Whether it was working on a project with a grandchild, assembling furniture or gifts with his son in laws, or completing household tasks for his wife, he took pride in a job well done. He instilled in his children the importance of always doing the right thing, being just and leaving things better than when you found them and they will always be grateful for his example. Paul’s infectious smile and genuinely kind demeanor naturally attracted people to him. 

Services will be held Monday December 12, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Littleton. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 11:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Committal with military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery Monday December 12, 2022 at 1:30pm Staging area "B".
