We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Anthony Heiss on June 3, 2024. Paul was born on March 8, 1963 in Minot, North Dakota to Robert Everitt Heiss, MD and Noreen Theresa (Kennedy) Heiss.
Paul grew up primarily in Littleton, CO and graduated from Heritage High School in 1981. He went on to study architecture at Arizona State University, where he graduated from The Design School in 1985. He was hired by American Continental and was a key member of the Phoenician Resort development team. From there, he pursued his master’s degree in Real Estate Development from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, graduating in 1990.
Paul had an accomplished career in real estate development, with some of his most notable projects including Disneyland’s Mickey’s Toontown, Palm Desert’s Gardens on El Paseo, San Francisco Union Square’s 278 Post Street and Bay Street Emeryville.
Paul had a passion for adrenaline and was an avid sports enthusiast, at different stages of life being active in football, skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, scuba diving, motorcycling, and cycling, amongst others. He enjoyed traveling the world and added in active pursuits whenever he could. He also regularly delved into his creative side and was an accomplished artist.
Paul is survived by his mother, brothers Rob and Steve, sister-in law Linda and niece Olivia.
