Pauline Marie Colwell

Pauline Marie Colwell came to Colorado in 1971 when her husband Dick was transferred from California to the new John’s Manville headquarters. They bought the house she loved upon arrival in which she lived for 48 years and where she passed away.

Pauline was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, went to school at St. Paul’s Lutheran school and Ft. Dodge High school. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College.

She and Dick married in 1956 when she converted to Catholicism. They raised their children in the Catholic faith and belonged to St. Thomas More parish. Pauline taught kindergarten until her first child was born. Afterwards she devoted her life to being a full time mother. She became a catechist in 1976 and taught 6th graders about the Lord for 9 years.

She loved to travel with Dick and they alternated years going to Hawaii and to Europe. Another favorite hobby was watching sports and she and Dick were long time Bronco season ticket holders. She was an armchair coach and loved to holler and cheer at the games on TV, whether football or basketball, pro or college, she watched them all!

Dick preceded her in death in 1994. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt. She always told us to put family first. We flew in from other states and countries to have family reunions each year for 18 years. She will be missed by her brother John, many nieces and nephews and especially by Tim Colwell, her eldest son and his wife Patty, Julie Fellay her daughter and her husband Jean-Marc, Beth Harris her daughter and her husband David, Tom Colwell her youngest and his wife Sandy. Her grandchildren adored her, Christian and Courtney Colwell, Melanie, Isabelle and Audrey Fellay, Ricky and Alli Harris, and Megan and Nicole Colwell and will miss going to grandma’s house for family dinners, playing cards, teasing her and joking with her. They so loved her!

Now she is at peace in the arms of our Lord.

There will be a mass at St. Thomas More Parish, 8035 S Quebec St, Centennial, CO 80112 at 9:00 am, Friday, June 28th followed by the memorial service at 10:30 am at Drinkwine Family Mortuary. Committal ceremony will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 10:15 am, Monday, July 1st (meeting at staging area C at 10am to proceed to ceremony).
