Richard Arlington "Dick" Bosler died peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday March 25, 2023. He was 82 years old.  Richard was born in Albany, New York on December 17, 1940, the son of Judson H. Bosler and Anna Mary (Orr) Bosler.  Richard was baptized at Saint John's Church in Rensselaer, New York. His family lived in Clarksville and Delmar, New York where he learned to set traps to catch small animals in the woods and creeks near Delmar. His dad and uncles introduced him to hunting in New York. Richard's family moved to Lakewood, Colorado in August 1955. He graduated from Alameda High School in May 1958. He worked for Miller's supermarket as a caddy and grocery checker before starting his telephone career with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph (MST&T) in March 1959. His new friends at the telephone company introduced him to fishing in Colorado lakes and streams. He enlisted in the Colorado National Guard, U S Air Force in July 1963. He learned electronic and microwave skills at Kessler Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard on July 19, 1969.

Early in his telephone career he was part of the construction team that installed the first telephone lines from Leadville to the Vail ski area in 1959. He worked for MST&T, (Mountain Bell) until divestiture of the Bell system in 1984. His area of expertise landed his career at AT&T and later Lucent Technologies. He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1997 as a manager in the Custom Systems group located in Westminster, Colorado.  Richard became a Master Mason in 1962, a 32nd  degree mason in the Scottish rite, Southern Jurisdiction, Valley of Denver in 1964 and a member of El Jebel Shrine in 1965. He was honored with a fifty-year Masonic achievement award in all three organizations.

Richard married his wife Jill at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Denver, Colorado in July 1965.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015.  He was a Boy Scout Webelo dad, and an active member in the American Sportsman’s Club where his sons learned many sportsman skills.  Richard developed advanced woodworking skills after his retirement.  He remodeled kitchens and installed outdoor decks.   He built fine furniture pieces for his home and especially enjoyed building a children’s play kitchen set and doll beds for his granddaughters.  His new-found skill was using CNC mill/turning equipment.

Richard influenced his family and friends with his faith, infectious laugh and acts of kindness.  He made friends easily and greatly appreciated their acts of kindness toward him.  Richard had great courage and a positive attitude about his health.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Jill, their two loving sons, his  sister and many other cherished family members. He was an active member of the Colorado CNC Users Group, Colorado Woodworkers Guild, South Denver Lodge 93 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Denver Consistory, and El Jebel Shrine.
