Richard Jimenez Obituary

Richard Jimenez, born August 25, 1948, passed away May 30, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Richard will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor and his uncanny ability to bring laughter into any room. He dedicated his career to the U.S. Geological Survey, where he met many lifelong friends. Richard had a wide circle of friends and was blessed with many deep, long-lasting friendships. He was always one to capture the moment with a camera in hand.

Richard’s commitment to service was unparalleled. He volunteered with Denver Metro Partners, Whiz Kids, the Northwest Denver Optimist Club, and greatly contributed to the success of Open Fairways, a golf program for inner-city youth.

A true enthusiast of life, Richard never failed to embrace opportunities for adventure and activity. Whether he was on the golf course, skiing, biking, swimming, hiking, or playing tennis, he approached each with passion and energy. He was a loyal fan of the Colorado Rockies and the CU Buffs. Richard also had a great love for good music, with a special appreciation for George Strait, The Beach Boys, Chicago, and Frank Sinatra.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Paula, whom he was fortunate to have met late in life and they enjoyed new adventures together. Before their marriage, they both were diagnosed with serious medical issues, they dedicated their best to each other. She cared for him with love and devotion throughout his illness.

Also survived by loving sister Loretta and husband Carlos who were a steady constant in his life. And survived by his older sister Jo. Although Richard often said he didn’t have any children of his own, he played a meaningful role in the lives of his numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard has now returned home to God, where he is reunited with his beloved mother and father, Florence and Paul Jimenez, as well as his two brothers, Gilbert and Pierre Jimenez.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on July 18th at Applewood Golf Club in Golden as an Open House from 3pm-6pm, where friends and family can gather to honor and remember him. His spirit of joy and adventure will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Please text 303-726-1202. RSVP required by July 10th. Space is limited.
