Richard Leroy Nelson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard L. Nelson on January 3, 2025 in Highlands Ranch CO. Richard was born on May 21, 1949 in Denver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Over the years he had many occupations, the main professions were commercial drywaller, and then for many years he worked for RTD as a bus and light rail operator. He is survived by wife Lisa Taylor-Nelson, son James Nelson, and daughter Sandra Gwaltney (Daniel). Grandkids Brett Von Eye, Kaitlyn Von Eye, Luke Nelson and MacKenzie Nelson. Great grandkids Aliyah Lucero and Mateo Lucero. Sisters Lana Williams, Judith Besta (Ashmore) and Joanne Richardson (Stan). He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Viola Nelson and first wife Karen Nelson. Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Highlands Baptist Church 1510 E. Phillips Ave Centennial CO 80122.
