Richard “Dick” Palmer passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dick served in the U.S. military and was stationed in Germany, where he and Marilyn had the privilege of living. After completing his service, he returned home where he and Marilyn started a family, settled in Rolling Meadows Illinois, later moved to Schaumburg Illinois, and then Littleton, Colorado, where the family made lasting memories.
Dick spent much of his career as an insurance adjuster before starting his own construction business. In retirement, he worked in bike shops, combining his love for cycling with a chance to stay active and connected. It was through this shared interest that he met his second wife, Mary McCarten Palmer, and they enjoyed many years together.
He also held an important place in the lives of Mary’s daughter Ann (husband Steve) and her children, Billy and Jennifer.
Dick is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Kim McMahon (husband Michael), Pat Howard (husband Frank), and Chris Taylor (husband Jamey); and grandchildren Matthew McMahon, Nikki Taylor, and Kate Taylor. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jeffrey McMahon and first wife Marilyn Palmer. Dick will be laid to rest beside Marilyn at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Dick was the younger brother of Joan Butler and older brother David Palmer, both of whom passed before him.
Known for his quiet sense of humor, steady nature, and deep care for those around him, Dick will be remembered with love and gratitude by family and friends alike.
