Richard Virgil Sauter, age 81, of Littleton, Colorado passed away on February 20, 2024 suddenly. Formerly of Niskayuna, New York, he was the son of Elmer P. Sauter and Eleanor Galaise Sauter.
Richard (Rick) is survived by brothers Ronald Sauter (and late Becky Sauter) and Randy Sauter (Carol) , and his sister Margaret Mazzanoble (Charles). Also survived by his daughters Kathy Ann Smith (David) and Robin Lee Bruce (Bryan) .Grandsons, Bryan R. Bruce and Austin C. Bruce and Steven W. James (Megan). As well as, great granddaughters Samantha G. James and Charlotte S. James. He is remembered greatly by his close niece, Jalene Brock (Michael), their children; Joslyn, Kortny, Marli, and Lorenz ; his nephew, Jason Sauter (Jamie), their children; Ryan, Jackson, and Sadie; and several other nieces and nephews.
Rick was born on August 4th, 1942 in Niskayuna, New York. While growing up, Rick enjoyed spending time at camps in Minerva and Caroga Lake, that his father had built. There he would fish, hunt, and spend time with family and friends. Rick was known for skiing here in Colorado and back East (Gore Mtn) in New York. He was an excellent speed skater. He graduated from Niskayuna High school in 1960, where he played football.
He went on to attend Albany Junior College. From there he took a job at Niagara Mohawk Power and became a lineman in New York before moving to Colorado. Richard worked at Public Service, known as Xcel, he remained a lineman till he retired.
For those who knew him, he was kind, and touched so many different people's lives - a pleasure to be around. He was a true outdoorsman, fishing, hunting, skiing, boating and camping. He had, and surrounded himself with family and so many friends. Rick is going to be greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Drinkwine Family Chapel.
