It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Patriarch, Robert ("Bob") Leslie Drinkwine, 83, of Littleton, Colorado.
Bob was born on April 30, 1941, the middle of three sons, to Lila Johnson and Donald Drinkwine. He grew up in Englewood, CO with his two brothers Donny and Tommy. Let's say in the Drinkwine household of boys, there was a rumble or two. The Englewood High School Pirate Bobby excelled in athletics, playing football, basketball and baseball. In 1958, he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sharon Vortman, and they married in 1961.
Following high school, Bob attended the University of Denver receiving an Associate Degree in Business and then continued his education in San Francisco graduating with a Mortuary of Science Degree. He returned to Littleton where he joined his father in purchasing Drinkwine Family Mortuary in 1963, beginning his career as a funeral director and embalmer. Over the next four decades, Bob dedicated his professional life to serve others and give back to his beloved community of Englewood and Littleton. He had a sincere compassion for taking care of families in a time of loss and grief. He worked hard to build a successful business, but he always put his family and friends first! Bob was deeply devoted to Sharon and was committed to raising his three girlies and spoiling his grandchildren with unconditional love, stability and family traditions.
Bob loved traveling with family and friends; binging on BBC shows, Netflix series and murder mysteries with Sharon; attending his grandchildren's school and sport activities; family game nights; computer solitaire; and social outings with old and new friends. He cheered on his Broncos and Nuggets, as well as enthusiastically supporting the grandkid's college teams the University of Colorado Buffalos, Air Force Academy Falcons, The Ohio State Buckeyes, University of Denver Pioneers, University of Kansas Jayhawks and Arizona State University Sun Devils. Bob loved a great steak, baked potato and seafood tower, but he loved his sweets more - the orange slices, jelly beans, circus peanuts, cinnamon bears and Easter Peeps. The sugary treats where on his daily menu.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Sharon Drinkwine; daughters Jana (David) Leino of Columbus, Ohio, Jennifer (Karl) Rexroat of Castle Pines, CO, Jill Drinkwine of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren Ian (Rose) Imamura of St. Petersburg, FL, Morgan Imamura of Highlands Ranch, CO, Josh Leino, Chase Leino, Megan Leino and Matthew Leino of Columbus, OH, Robert Rexroat of Pueblo West, CO, Reagan Rexroat and Reese Rexroat of Castle Pines, CO; and many other extended family members who Bob loved. He is preceded in death by his parents Lila and Donald Drinkwine and brothers Donny Drinkwine and Tommy Drinkwine.
Papa D, as everyone knew him, was truly one of the good guys! He had a witty sense of humor and infectious smile. His generous, giving and humble nature touched the hearts of so many. Bob's legacy is strong, and he left footprints on the hearts of his family. He will be missed dearly.
